Little Blue Typewriter Complete with case and original instructions! |
I cannot believe it is already November! November does not only mean the edge of the Holiday season, but National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). For the past three Novembers I have joined thousands of other frantic would be writers as we attempt to write a complete 50,0000 word novel in one month. I have not been successful yet. However, it has been a great creative exercise, and I have met a group of great people going through the exact same thing as me. In the spirit of growing as a writer I decided to try something different.
This year, I am attempting to do a bulk of my writing on a vintage typewriter. Although I already have a maroon typewriter with glass keys, I decided I needed something sturdier. Being someone who has blown out the keyboard not once, but twice on my MacBook I opted for a Brother Deluxe from the 1960s. (Definitely skipped on the glass keys.) My little blue typewriter is an Ebay purchase, and all I had to do was change the ribbon. Anyone interested in vintage typewriters may like to know that Amazon sells universal typewriter ribbon that fit my machine easily.
Last night I warmed up with a few opening paragraphs, and I found the clacking of the keypad fairly soothing. It will certainly keep me from getting distracted by the internet.
Anyone else participating in NaNoWriMo 2013?
